The Chicken Project
As a critical design, the Chicken Project is never meant to to see any kind of mass manufacture (if we’re lucky).
Essentially, the goal of this project was to use design as a critique rather than as a method of designing products for market. You know those space-saving watermelons that are grown from seed in a square box, eventually taking on the shape of the container around them? This is like that, but with chickens.
The containers stack for convenient storage. An Arduino controls a motion sensor and an RGB LED, changing the light of the eye from blue to red when the inhabitant of the cage hasn’t moved for long enough that it can be safely assumed that it has died. No muss, no fuss, no terrible, dirty cages for us to feel uncomfortable about - it’s a win all around (IT’S REALLY, REALLY NOT).
