My Story

Hey, I'm Ivan.

Before I started post-secondary I attended a couple of experimental democratic and wilderness schools which I still love dearly. My experiences there gave me a deep respect for our environment and taught me that there are wildly different ways of doing things and that those ways are worth exploring.
After graduating I spent a year at the Kootenay School of the Arts in Nelson, learning blacksmithing and metal casting. I really discovered how much I appreciated finely tuned work - both doing it myself, and being part of a team that does it.

For the last four years, I've been attending Emily Carr University of Art and Design, as well as contributing to our local makerspaces by spreading the skills that I've learned during my education as widely as possible.
These experiences have framed my interests in design to be directed towards research-heavy, empowering, educational, and environmentally conscious projects. I'm especially interested in making things that have enough quality to outlast me.
